The free calculator

Using the calculator itself — entering your income, family and location details to see results — happens entirely in your browser. Those inputs are never sent to our servers, and closing the calculator clears them.

Before you can open the calculator, we ask for your email address. That email is stored on our servers and used to follow up about AffordaLive, including occasional marketing emails (you can unsubscribe anytime).

Paid reports

Our paid report service (see our suburb reports) is different, because generating your report requires processing what you enter: income, savings, household details, and suburb preferences. Here is exactly what happens to that information:

• When you start checkout, your report details are stored temporarily, referenced only by a randomly generated ID.
• Our payment processor, Stripe, receives your email address and payment details to process the transaction — it never receives your income, savings, or other report inputs.
• Once your report has been generated and emailed to you, your stored report details are deleted.

We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.

Contact requests

If you submit a contact form, your message is sent to our team via a secure form service. We will only use your email to respond to your enquiry and will not add you to a mailing list without separate consent.

Third-party services

AffordaLive pulls property and demographic data from Domain and ABS. We do not share your personal information with these providers.

Cookies

AffordaLive doesn't set traditional tracking cookies. We use browser storage for a small number of strictly functional purposes: remembering that you've already provided your email at the calculator gate so you're not asked again, carrying your calculator inputs through to the report checkout flow, and making sure certain on-site prompts only appear once per visit. None of this is used for advertising. Our payment processor, Stripe, sets its own cookies at checkout for fraud prevention, governed by Stripe's own policies.
